DWTS Season 14 Finals - RESULTS

I LOVED the opening act. There's nothing in the world like seeing all the pros dance together, and of course, we all like watching the "reunion" with all the previous contestants.

Then, blabity bla, highlights, bla.

The judges wanted to see Donald's freestyle a second time. It was still great, but not as sharp as it was the first time, but that's understandable. The anticipation and the "edge" are off now, which brings the energy down and brings the excitement down.

More time wasting and blabla let's compare the three blablabla...buncha crap we did last week but with new B-roll.

On to the dancing.....

REUNIONS!

Sherri Shepherd dancing with all the men couldn't have been more amusing. Seeing Maks and Tony literally come floating down from the roof was hilarious. That was probably the best finale reunion dance I've seen....it even tops Carson's "Vogue" of last season....but to be honest, seeing this makes me realize her lacking skills made me understand better why she went off early.

It was good but also painful to see Martina try to dance again. She was better than she was on the show previously, but still bad.Jack Wagner seemed to improve quite a lot from the last time I recall him dancing. I think he could have grown a lot if he was able to stick around.

Gavin.....was as terrible as ever haha. I guess they figured if they surrounded him with all the ladies, people wouldn't notice his crappy dancing as much. I still love him because he just has a sunny attitude, but....yeah.
Gladys was much the same as Gavin. She seemed to be less awkward than she was previously, but still awkward nonetheless. It was still nice to see her again. Paso Doble to Shaft.....awesome! I liked Jaleel a lot previously. He showed a lot of skill in this dance. He was another one I would have liked to see grow more. He previously suffered from peaking early.

It would be a lie to say I didn't enjoy the second Chmerkovskiy sandwich of the night.....I think seeing another short redhead dance with them is the closest thing I can ever hope to get haha. Nice twist on the butt grab. She was still awkward and a little goofy, but improved from last time. Roshon's freestyle was incredible! Honestly, had they been in the finals they would have won.

And then Kelly Clarkson sang. Once again, watching the pros dance together is too awesome. It always makes me wish I had the money to study ballroom (yes, you do have to be rich to commit to it seriously).

MARIA AND DEREK! I really wished they had made it to the finals. She is one of my favorite types of people....someone who started out not the best, but came back to improve week after week, even through a series of injuries. Honestly, I think if she hadn't been injured, more people would have voted. I think everyone kinda just wanted to give her a break.

The Final Dances - SPOILER ALERT!

William and Cheryl - Salsa
Judges said:
Len - If salsa and rhythm were in the Olympics, you'd get a gold medal.
Bruno - When it comes down to it, hot, saucy, sexy, spicy, salsa, hips don't lie. Nobody does it better than William!
Carrie Ann - They don't call you Team Fuego for no reason. What you have that makes you so special is you have true star quality. KT says: Yes! More perfect thighs and booty in tight, white pants. It was a little predictable, especially since they just did a salsa yesterday. but still fun.
Score they got: 30 (I think it's standard to give everybody's last dance a 30 unless they screw up horribly)

Score I'd give 'em: 30

Katherine and Mark - Jive
Judges said:
Bruno: Katherine, the blonde bombshell, the girl that has it all. A truly stunning dancer.
Carrie Ann: It's true. I don't know what else to say to you. You are such a brilliant artist. It's you two that set the bar so high this season.
Len: Judging is only an opinion....but I tell you, Katherine,  YOU are the complete package.
KT says: Honestly, I thought she was a little awkward during this dance. I was a little disappointed.
Score they got: 30
Score I'd give 'em: 28

Donald and Peta - Chacha
Judges said:
Carrie Ann: You are such a fierce competitor. I can see this love for this show and you are determined to win. You are the one to beat.
Len: My feeling is that no one's a loser tonight. May I say, we've had some great footballers on this show over the years. My feeling is you're the best we've had.
Bruno: Another massive hit for Donald the Magnificent.
KT says: He started off a little stiff, but I can't complain too much with being shirtless the whole time. Overall, he did great.
Score they got: 30
Score I'd give 'em: 30

Gladys Knight singing was angelic as expected. Though, I didn't care for the slow motion clips that made everybody cry.

3rd Runner Up: William and Cheryl (Aw, his son, who looks exactly like him, was crying)
2nd Runner Up: Katherine and Mark
Champions: Donald and Peta

Looks like my prediction was right!

DWTS Season 14 - FINALS!

William & Cheryl - Chacha, aided by Bruno
Judges said:
Len: That's as good as I've ever seen in 14 seasons of chachacha
Bruno: That was an intoxicating human cocktail of natural flowing movement and sizzling sexuality.
Carrie Ann: Clean, sharp, defined, the musicality...you have grown MILES!
KT says: It was....ok. It didn't blow me away. I think he did a good job, but I just wasn't mystified.
They got: 30
I'd give 'em: 27
Voting #
1-800-868-VOTE-08

Katherine & Mark - Paso Doble, aided by Len
Judges said:
Bruno: Katherine, that was a Paso Doble full of vivid, lush, lustful artistry.
Carrie Ann: Watching a prima ballerina. Every move was perfectly executed.
Len: Full of tasty tidbits to tickle your taste buds.
KT says: I'm always biased toward Paso Doble because it is one of my favorite dances in general. I'm also biased because Katherine has been my favorite from the start, so I almost feel I shouldn't comment. I believe she did nail the finesse moreso than the first time she did that dance.
They got: 30
I'd give 'em: 30
Voting #
1-800-VOTE-10

Donald & Peta - Argentine Tango, aided by Carrie Ann
Judges said:
Carrie Ann: I loved it the first time and I loved it again. There was a new crispness.
Len: I felt it was far more content I liked the setup and the intensity. For me it was a tad careful.
Bruno: I think you've been clever again. You went for the subtle and intimate. Small details, but intense story details.
KT says: Another one of my favorite dances. I felt like Peta did all the dancing and Donald did a lot of standing and walking around. Yes, he did the lifts as well, but that's about all I saw. What he did do, he did well, but I just felt he didn't do anything. I have to agree with Len.
They got: 29
I'd give 'em: 27

1-800-VOTE-04

THE FREESTYLE

Voting #s are listed, but have not changed.

William & Cheryl
Judges said:
Len: What you do, you do well. First, I have to say, I liked it. But, for me it was too predictable. All you do is shake your butt and get the women screaming. I wanted to see something different.
Bruno: You are like two devils unleashed upon the earth into a Latin inspired extravaganza. Sinful but ever so beautiful.
Carrie Ann: That was just exactly what a freestyle should be.
KT says: It was an interesting tango/salsa fusion, which I think fit William perfectly. Sadly, I have to agree with Len. It was careful and a little predictable. It didn't show a full range of dance style and emotion, which is, in my opinion, a NECESSITY for the freestyle.
They got: 29
I'd give 'em: 28
Voting #
1-800-868-VOTE-08

Katherine & Mark
Judges said:
Bruno: A tour de force through the many ages of swing. You were on the money all the way.
Carrie Ann: You are such a fabulous performer, You can do everything. That was the dance of a champion.
Len: If I'm asleep and dreaming. Don't wake me up. THIS is a freestyle.
KT says: As I said, she has been my favorite form day one. They had a great idea to have her open with a song. That said, it also didn't really blow me away. Technically, it was great, but a little something was missing. It seemed like she lost her footing a bit at times, but maybe I'm crazy.
They got: 30
I'd give 'em: 28
Voting #
1-800-VOTE-10

Donald & Peta
Judges said:
Carrie Ann: No offense to any of the people in the past seasons, this is by far my favorite final and by far my favorite dance tonight!
Len: You came out, an enormous charge, you went wright for that field. Fantastic!
Bruno: As rides go, this was ace high! A country inspired triumph!
KT says: To be honest,  he is my least favorite of the contestants, but he took a huge risk and it paid off well. He lost his footing a few times that I noticed. It was a LOT more than what i expected from him.
They got: 30
I'd give 'em: 29
Voting #
1-800-VOTE-03

Leader Board:
Katherine & Mark 60
Donald & Peta and Willliam & Cheryl: tied at 59

My prediction:
3rd - William & Cheryl - William & Cheryl may be the sexiest couple, but the showed the least amount of surprise and wonder.
2nd - Katherine & Mark - Consistent with the rest of the season, I think, technically, they were the best. Unfortunately, it's to their detriment because everyone always expects perfection, so isn't surprised when they get it.
1st - Donald & Peta - These two showed the biggest amount of risk and therefore the biggest reward. The freestyle was fantastically unexpected. This will convert several of William's and Katherine's loyal fans.

Cheryl Burke and whiney bitches

Every season I hear ugly comments from fans when their precious little favorites don't make it into the finals. This season, it was very difficult for every viewer to see anyone eliminated during the semifinals because everyone is so talented. Sometimes the complaints are justified, but most of the time, they're not. I understand feeling emotionally connected to folks that inspire you, but there's no need to be ugly toward those you don't favor.

Perhaps the worst thing I hear from people are the complaints that Cheryl Burke is the show's favorite and always gets "the best contenders," and the "most popular" people. Out of the 13 seasons that Cheryl has been a part of DWTS, she has been in the finals six times, has won twice, come in second twice, and gotten third place once. We have yet to see where she will end up this season, but we do know she is in the finals.

Let's look at this critically. Before they were on DWTS, if you asked the average person walking down the street if they really thought Emmit Smith or Rob Kardashian would be great dancers do you think they'd say, "Yes?" There have also been plenty of seasons she didn't go to the finals. She was among some of the first folks eliminated when she danced with Wayne Newton and Tom DeLay. She's been everywhere between first and worst. What's the explanation for that?

People might say that Drew Lachey, her first partner, had an unfair advantage because he was previously in the boy band 98° and obviously had some dance training. That WOULD be a fair point if the same people weren't silent about the unfair advantages of former New Kids on the Block member Joey McIntyre, former 'N Sync member Joey Fatone, Spice Girl Melanie Brown, former 'N Sync member number two Lance Bass, pop star Mya, and Pussycat Doll Nichole Scherzinger.

Listen bitches, stop bein' bitches. That's all you're doing. You're mad that whichever guy you think is hot or whatever girl you think is charming is no longer around and instead of being a grownup and knowing that's just the way the cookie crumbles, you go around bringing everyone else down.

Do you have any idea how hideous you're being toward Cheryl Burke? She is an incredibly talented, creative woman whose artistic abilities are only outshined by her intuitive ability to hone in on her partners' strengths and weaknesses and use them to consistently create poetry in motion. The second you say, "She's only in the finals because everyone likes her partner," or, "She's the producers' favorite, so she always gets the best contestants," then you're taking a giant dump on all of her talents and achievements.

The only other pro I've heard such hateful comments made toward is Derek Hough who, out of nine seasons, has won three times and been in the finals once. Again, who the hell thought Ricki Lake would have turned out to be a great dancer? However, my hypothesis is that, since it's mostly women making these nasty comments, that they're not quite as nasty to him because he is quite the cute piece of ass, afterall.

Also, as I said before, don't you dare whine that it's a popularity contest. YOU are the ones who keep people like Melissa Gilbert on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than they deserve to be because you think her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, is hot. How do I know? I'm on twitter. I see all your @maksimc tags about, "I am gonna stay up all night voting for you," and, "You're my favorite," and, "OMG you're so hot, I don't know what we're going to do if you don't make it to the next round," and, "Here's Maks' voting number. Start voting now!" All of this occurs hours before the show even airs. How could you possibly be voting for the dance that touched your heart when you haven't even seen any of them yet?!

(No, I don't dislike or have a problem with Maksim, but I follow all the DWTS pros and his fans are the ones I see doing this the most.)

Then I see how all of you cry, whine, gossip, and insult other people when you don't get your way. You've all made it beyond crystal clear that you're perfectly fine with the popularity contest so long as your favorite is still in it.

I can't think of a delicate way to put this, so I won't try. You're grown-ass women! Stop acting like kindergarteners. It's just a fucking TV show, you know the rules, and you're supposed to be voting for best overall dance, not who you wanna bang. Different pros and stars have different talents and different appeals. Different viewers all have different reasons for supporting who they support, even if they're the wrong reasons (like many of your reasons), you don't have control over it. You're perfectly willing and able to vote for Maks because he has a nice ass, but don't turn around and insult Cheryl Burke when people vote for William Levy because he also has a nice ass, or talk about how "unfair" the show is, or spit venom at people because you didn't get your way. It's not going to change the nature of the show. It's just going to change the level of respect people have for you. Pin It

DWTS Week 8 - Results

Considering what happened to my family yesterday, I am still not in the mood for bubbly bloggin.

SPOILER ALERT

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Well, my prediction from yesterday came true. I was sad to see Roshon go, but I can't say I was surprised. He had been in the bottom two at least three times that I can recall. Melissa, on the other hand, I have to say I was glad to see go. I don't mean her any malice, but popularity kept her on the show a lot longer than was appropriate in my opinion. I'm sure she is a lovely lady, but she was not the strongest dancer.

At this point, it really is anybody's game. Katherine is my favorite, but sometimes when you are strong from the beginning, people expect you to be the best and when you make one little mistake, people penalize you fifty times harder. Donald has come a long way. He started off pretty well, but he has truly evolved, though I would say he is my least favorite of the remaining four. Maria also started strong, but continues to wow us a little bit more every week, I just hope she doesn't literally fall apart before the showdown! William is HOT, HOT, HOT and it would be a lie to say that his appearance isn't one of the reasons I want him to stick around, but he does lose focus once in a while. I would like to see him truly nail me a dance perfectly.

I'm looking forward to the semifinals. Pin It

DWTS Week 8

My uncle died this morning....I can't gather enough concern about DWTS to devote a whole entry to it like I normally do. I'll just sum up.

Donald & Peta's Tango - Dunno why, but I hated it. Maybe it's my mood, but it felt frenetic.
They got: 27
I'd give 'em: 24

Maria & Derek's Waltz - I mostly liked it, but her emotional expressions seemed disingenuous to me.
They got: 28
I'd give 'em: 26

Melissa & Maks's Fox Trot - One of their better dances even though there were lots of missteps. Of course, their best dance still isn't saying much.
They got: 24
I'd give 'em: 24

Katherine & Mark's Viennese Waltz - Still decent, but not up to their usual standard at all.
They got: 26
I'd give 'em: 26

Roshon & Chelsie's Fox Trot - Very cute, I really liked it.
They got: 29
I'd give 'em: 27

William & Cheryl's Fox Trot - It was good to see William being a classy gentleman type and not just a sex pot type (not that I mind that).
They got: 30
I'd give 'em: 29

Donald, Peta, Karina's Jive - Quite impressed with Donald's fast footwork.
They got: 28
I'd give 'em: 27

Maria, Derek, Henry's Samba - Very creative! This is why Derek always wins...on the other hand, Maria didn't do enough of the actual dancing.
They got: 25
I'd give 'em: 27

Melissa, Maks, Val's Samba - One of her best...or maybe it's just the two Chmerkovskiys. What I'd give to be in her position!....also is it me or was it kinda hot seeing the two boys dance together in the rehearsal?
They got: 27
I'd give 'em:  26

Katherine, Mark, Tristan's Chacha - She handled the stray pant leg extremely well! Overall I liked it, but it wasn't as exciting as the other trios.
They got: 29
I'd give 'em: 27

Roshon, Chelsie, Sasha's Paso Doble - Roshon is showing more and more maturity and masculinity, but it's not 100% yet. Overall, I liked it but they got out of sync and I found it a little flat for a Paso Doble.
They got: (I had to run to the potty so I didn't see)
I'd give 'em: 25

William, Cheryl, Tony's Paso Doble -Wowee that was hot. There were a couple little missteps, but overall, I loved it.
They got: 27
I'd give 'em: 27

Best Dance of 1st Round: William & Cheryl's Fox Trot
Worst Dance of 1st Round: Melissa & Maks's Fox Trot
Best Dance of 2nd Round: Donald, Peta, Karina's Jive
Worst Dance of the 2nd Round: Roshon, Chelsie, Sasha's Paso Doble
Who should go: Melissa and Roshon
Who probably will go: Melissa and Roshon Pin It

DWTS Season 14, Week 7 - Classical Night

I absolutely ADORE everything visual about the "classic" era, ruffles, brocade, powder wigs, and of course, men in tights! Though, there was not nearly enough of that in this episode. I will also confess, I don't know who any modern "classical" musicians are, so I dunno who the violinist dude and the singers were....I just salivated of the symphony playing with the band.

Katherine and Mark – Rumba Judges said:
Len: Classic night and I've gotta say, a classic rumba. It had style and elegance.
Bruno: The unattainable object of desire, the embodiment of the power of the beauty merely toying with your subject. Of course, I like it a little raunchier. Technically, I have to say it was superb.
Carrie Ann: Technically in this competition, you are unmatched, but tonight I think your passion was a little placed.
KT Says: Well helloooooo Mr. Ballas. Mark doesn't show his body much, but maybe he should! Cannon in D is one of my absolute favorite classical pieces, so it's always going to touch my heart, so I might be a little biased here, but that was an extremely creative interpretation of the music. I'd never think of doing a rumba to it, but I do have to be frank, it was a little slower than what I usually like, but it had to be to fit the music.
Score they got: 27 Score
I'd give 'em: 27
Voting # 1-800-868-3410

Melissa and Maks – Argentine Tango
Judges said:
Bruno: You really tried very hard, and I have to praise you for that, but at times you looked like you were riding The Cyclone on Coney Island. It wasn't clean.
Carrie Ann: It's sort of like Cirque du Soleil went terribly wrong.
Len: There was so much intensity that it did lose a bit of quality.
KT Says: -sings- We're men...we're men in tights....we roam around the forest looking for fights. The choreography itself was nice, but the dance as a whole was PAINFUL to watch. Overall I didn't care for the dance, there were too many mistakes.
Score they got: 21
Score I'd give 'em: 21
Voting # 1-800-868-3407

William and Cheryl – Viennese Waltz
Judges said:
Carrie Ann: That is what I was looking for. That was true content and true dancing.
Len: I wasn't exactly transported to Vienna, but it was close, I was in Austria. Like a fiddler's elbow, you've been up and down and this week you were up.
Bruno: You have captured the purity and ethereal quality of the song. That was so touching.
KT Says: I disagree with the judges' comments. William and Cheryl did have the advantage of a dance that is actually meant to be danced to classical music. I felt William's injuries unfortunately did show. It seemed like Cheryl did all the dancing. BTW, Holy crap, I can't believe that tiny little girl can sing like that!!
Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 25
Voting # 1-800-868-3408

Roshon and Chelsie – Argentine Tango
Judges said:
Len: I like the transitions into the lifts. Your feet looked a little awkward. Overall it was clean and confident.
Bruno: Roshon the man, most of the time very clean, but Len is right, you have to have strength in your legs.
Carrie Ann: That was you being steady on your feet!
KT Says: I'm not a Lady Gaga fan AT ALL, ut I gotta say the orchestral interpretation was brilliant! A technical glitch made us all miss a few seconds. I thought the dance overall was beautiful. I don't think Val's Think Like a Man lesson quite penetrated, but still a good job.
Score they got: 26
Score I'd give 'em: 26
Voting # 1-800-868-3405

Donald and Peta – Viennese Waltz
Judges said: Bruno:You've got it and thank you I LOVED IT! Carrie Ann: I didn't SEE a lift. I love your intensity makes your moves so strong. Len: I thought it was terrific!
KT Says:
I LOVE THEIR COSTUMES!!! Brocade is sexy. Donald was just a smidgen stiff in a few places, but overall I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! I can say no more.
Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 27
Voting # 1-800-868-3403

Maria and Derek – Paso Doble
Judges said:
(I missed some of the comments because my grandma called) Carrie Ann: You DID suck. That was amazing. Len: Fantastic Bruno: The Queen of the night!
KT Says: WOW....PERFECT!

Score they got: 30
Score I'd give 'em: 30
Voting # 1-800-868-3401

Jaleel and Kym – Viennese Waltz
Judges said: Len: I liked it enough not to be cruel but I didn't like it enough to be kind. There was no footwork. Bruno: I think content wise, I couldn't ask for more. You sometimes have the tendency to throw your arms. Carrie Ann: Don't lose your confidence.
KT Says:
Overall, it was generally light and airy and flowy and technically very good, but something was lacking that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It was a bit imprecise and repetitive. I feel like Len, I didn't hate it I just wasn't crazy about it.
Score they got: 24
Score I'd give 'em: 25
Voting # 1-800-868-3412

Best Dance:  Maria & Derek's Paso Doble

Worst Dance: Melissa & Maks's

Who should go: Melissa
Who probably will go: Melissa or Roshon (I think Roshon did well, but he doesn't have the fanbase that others have and he's been in the bottom two several times now)

Team Dances: I dunno what to think of this whole thing. I enjoy the general concept but I don't know how I feel about the judges' scores being added to the totals.

Team Tango: Katherine & Mark, Maria & Derek, Roshon & Chelsie, Jaleel & Kym
Judges said:
Len: Maria and Roshon were the standout parts. It was a mix of the good bad and the ugly.
Bruno: The choreography was outstanding. Roshon, a revelation!
Carrie Ann: All of you were so tight and so in sync!

KT Says: Absolutely awesome and creative as hell! I loved the opening with Katherine "conducting" the show. They were very precise and in sync during the group parts and each couple's solo was pretty darn skippy too. Jaleel and Kym had one little misstep that I noticed. As expected, Katherine and Mark were the to crown jewel of the dance. Roshon showed amazing maturity and control in his solo. Where was that earlier today?!
Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 27 (I would have given all 9s, not a 10 like Carrie Ann or an 8 like Len)

Team Meat Market Team Paso: William & Cheryl, Melissa & Maks, Donald & Peta
Judges said:
Bruno: More muscle power than the avengers. There was a bit of a loss of sync but you guys are superheroes!
Carrie Ann: That was so much fun! That is going to go down in history as the fan favorite Paso Doble.
Len: It was fire and ice. Hot in the performance, cool in the execution, great job!

KT Says: OMG "O FORTUNA" IS ONE OF MY VERY VERY VERY FAVORITE HOT WANNA LIKE...MAKE OUT TO IN A WEIRD WAY CLASSICAL PIECES! -fans self- Melissa looked better than I expected...unfortunately, William looked worse. Donald misstepped a but and parts were out of sync. Most noticeably the guys with the skirts. However, the dance as a whole was so incredibly hot. Sex on a stick³

Score they got: 26
Score I'd give 'em: 26

DWTS Season 14, Week 6 - Results

Motown Week continued as the show opened with a Motown medley from the DWTS band and a dance from the DWTS troupe. I must say this. Peta+Val=PORN and not just because they were dancing to "Let's Get It On." I've seen them dance before and have said the same thing before.

Round I:
Jaleel & Kym - 1st saved
Maria & Derek - 1st in jeopardy
William & Cheryl - 2nd saved
Melissa & Maks - 2nd in jeopardy

I am quite surprised to see Maria and Derek in jeopardy, but not at all to see Melissa and Maks.

Commercial break.

Seeing Makela (sp?) dancing for the AT&T Spotlight performance was very inspiring. As always, I'm happy to see other dances on the show besides ballroom. I'm also glad to see some people of color on the show, something that is noticeably absent on a regular basis as far as the pros and dance troupes are concerned. Yes, I realize they've had a wide diversity of contestants.

Commercial break and potty time for KT.

I honestly didn't care for the, "OMG look at the drama and the injuries blablabla," package that they presented. That is my main gripe with the show in general, that people are too focused on the drama instead of the dancing. I know, I know, drama and bullshit sell or else, but I don't have to like it. I loved the Macy's Stars of Dance routine as always. I don't think I've ever seen one that I haven't enjoyed. In this case, it was a very lyrical and balletic presentation performed to an orchestral version of David Guetta's "Without You." This one was particularly impressive considering the large number of dancers that had to be in perfect sync. Anyone who's been on a dance team knows this is no easy task.

Commercial break and derp on twitter time for KT.

I LOVE BOYZ II MEN! Ana Trebynskaya and Dmitry Chaplin (who really needs to show up more often) did a nice dance with a lot of pretty tricks. I've gotta say though, at this point, the show needs to be energized a little. So far there have been three somber and serious.

Round II:
Katherine & Mark - 3rd saved
Gladys & Tristan - 3rd in jeopardy
Donald & Pita - 4th saved
Roshon & Chelsie - 4th in jeopardy

Commercial break and check virtual pet time for KT.

Round III:
Melissa & Maks - 5th saved
Gladys & Tristan - 5th in jeopardy
Maria & Derek - 6th saved
Roshon & Chelsie - 6th in jeopardy

Dance Duel: Gladys & Tristan vs. Roshon & Chelsie - The Jive

I know everybody hates the politics of this, but I like seeing it. IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion...get used to this phrase), despite a few awkward moments, Roshon & Chelsie, they danced much better than Gladys & Tristan.

The votes:
Carrie Ann: Gladys & Tristan
Len: Roshon & Chelsie
Bruno: Roshon & Chelsie

It was just as Tristan said that it would be, a bittersweet and beautiful moment seeing Gladys both open up Motown week and close it down. She had a good attitude about the whole thing. I'm sad to see her go since she does somehow touch everyone's hearts, even with her limited dance skills. I think the judges made the right choice. Pin It

DWTS Week 6 - Motown Night

A few general comments.....

OMG I LOVE MOTOWN (not just because I was born there) I CAN'T BELIEVE SMOKY AND MARTHA AND THE TEMPTATIONS ARE THERE!

Yikes, white people trying to sing Motown.

Was somebody groping Len under the desk? He was awfully giddy today.

I'm FINALLY going to ease up on the costume crew because all of this week's costumers were wonderful. They all actually fit the everyone's body types and dances very well.....except for Chelsie's. Srlsy, what was that?

I realized I haven't been giving any love or hate to the hair and makeup crew. They've been doing fantastically on everything as far as I'm concerned.

Len: If I could judge purely with my heart, you'd be the top of my leader board. You're not the best dancer, but you're the most charismatic dancer.
Bruno: You have star quality, but I like my rumba a bit steamier.
Carrie Ann: If any night is going to belong to anyone tonight is going to belong to you, but the truth is there were a lot of forgetful moments.

KT says: It was a rather magic moment considering all the history behind it. A gorgeous costume on Gladys combined with slow, sensual styling and topped off by a live performance be The Temptations, you can't help but be a little in love. This was Gladys's best dance by far! Their slower but more precise approach seemed to fit her better than same of the other styles they've tried. I have to say the dip was super awkward...but the nerd glasses on Tristan were super cute.

Score they got: 21
Score I'd give 'em: 21

Maria and Derek – Foxtrot
Judges said:
Bruno: That was a gleaming blend of sophistication with elegance.
Carrie Ann: It was so precise. The slip threw you off a little and at the end your shoulders came up a bit.
Len: In hold it was correct and formal, out of hold it was fun and free.

KT says: OMG HER DRESS! I STEALZ IT!!! Also, Martha Reeves (whose dress I also stealz)! Admittedly, Foxtrot is NOT my favorite dance because it has the potential to be really boring. Maria and Derek's dance was good, but it was still a Foxtrot, so I might be biased, but I was a little bored. Maria did pretty well faking class. I can't say I didn't notice a few awkward steps here and there, but a huge improvement over last week.

Score they got: 26
Score I'd give 'em: 24

Roshon and Chelsie – Rumba
Judges said:
Carrie Ann: In general, I thought your movement were a bit over
exaggerated.
Len: The movement was clipped and jerky like painting by numbers.
Bruno: What you lack in size you make up in fire, but it was almost like hip hop.

KT says: Roshon is such a goofball that this was REALLY hard to pull off in the first place. Slow and sensual is just not his strength. He managed to pull it off decently, but I agree with Len, it was quite jerky and awkward in several places.

Score they got: 23
Score I'd give 'em: 23

Katherine and Mark – Samba
Judges said:
Len: Was there an earthquake or did Katherine shake this place up?
Bruno: WHOA BABY BABY BABY YOU CAN BOUNCE! The marriage of Brazil with funky town has never been so exhilarating!
Carrie Ann: You let loose, that was amazing!

KT says: Samba is, in my opinion, the HARDEST of all the dances. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I didn't really care for this dance. It's disappointing because Katherine has been the best since the start. This dance was still "good" compared to the other contestants, but for Katherine's standard, it was a flop. It was flat, lacked sparkle, and just didn't move me at all, which I really, REALLY hate to say.

Score they got: 29
Score I'd give 'em: 24

Donald and Peta – Foxtrot
Judges said:
Bruno: You are a showman! Pizazz, confidence, power, you put so much into it. Your performances get better and better.
Carrie Ann: You were so in your zone!
Len: I know you were disappointed with me last week and I thought you were going to show me some fireworks. You didn't. You came out and EXPLODED on the floor!

KT says: Welp, I'm gonna have to go ahead and steal Peta's dress too. Also, HOLY SHIT THE TEMPTATIONS SINGING "THE WAY YOU DO THE THING YOU DO!!!!" That's one of my favorites. Anyway, once again, I don't like the Foxtrot generally because it's boring. Donald's arms were a little awkward at points and there was a little teetering during the dip step, but overall, I think he did as well as anyone can do with a Foxtrot. It wasn't as good as his tango last week, but it was still pretty great. I knew he wouldn't get that 10 from Len....almost no one ever gets a 10 from Len.

Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 27

Melissa and Maks – Viennese Waltz
Judges said:
Carrie Ann: You worked so hard and it is FINALLY paying off. I see artistry blossoming in you.
Len: I saw rotation, I saw romance, I saw control, you lost a bit of energy as it got to the end.
Bruno: Wonderful rotation. You kept your connection with Maks, now I know what gets you going. Towards the end you got a little puffed out, but you're really going in the right direction.

KT says: A redhead in a green dress is always poetry in motion and as a redhead myself, this little poem would have probably beaten the shit out of Maks this week. Melissa's arms were awkward, and she seemed to be tuckered out toward the end, but overall this has been her best dance, so maybe there's something to being a total prick...or maybe it's just the shaving.

Score they got: 24
Score I'd give 'em: 24

Jaleel and Kym – Cha Cha Cha
Judges said:
Len: Jaleel week 1, I thought this guy was a contender, then things didn't quite work as I thought...you're back.
Bruno: YOU BURNED THAT FLOOR!
Carrie Ann: Consider the A game BROUGHT TO THE TABLE!

KT says: OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG ONE OF MY OTHER FAVORITES "AIN'T TOO PROUD TO BEG!!!!!" That was pretty friggin awesome. I have nothing critical to say to be honest.

Score they got: 29
Score I'd give 'em: 29

William and Cheryl – Rumba
Judges said:
Bruno: William, absolutely, utter filth and I loved every minute of it.
Carrie Ann: I am gonna tell you something, I don't think that was your best dance. I think there were moments where you guys got disconnected.
Len: For me, it was a little on the raunchy side. I found it a little harsh.

KT says: It really should be illegal for William to wear clothes...Maybe that's a piece of legislation that could give the Republicans a fighting chance in the election....just sayin'. Now that he knows all that hip action can you imag--oh, fine, I'll stop. I think it was pretty damn steamy, though I do agree with Carrie Ann that there were a few moments of disconnection. It wasn't his best dance, but it was still -fans self-.

Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 26
Voting # 1-800-868-3408

Best dance of the night: Jaleel and Kym's chacha
Worst dance of the night: None of them were bad, but I have to say the letdown factor forces me to choose Katherine and Mark. They're the only couple that didn't touch my heart in any way.
Who SHOULD go: Gladys or Melissa
Who probably will go: Roshon

THE DANCE MARATON:
I love this because it gives people a glimpse into what real ballroom is like. It was honestly a little hard for me to follow because there is so much going on at one time. Right away I noticed Gladys being a little slow....which is why Gladys was the first out. Maria I also noticed early on, as did the judges, so she was tapped out next. The other one I noticed slowing was Melissa, but Roshon and Chelsea were tapped next, Melissa was next naturally. Donald and Peta got knocked out next, which I can't say I agree with because what I saw looked pretty spectacular. Jaleel and Kym were knocked out next leaving Katherine and Mark to face off against William and Cheryl. This was a tough call but I felt that William should have been taken out next because Katherine was back to her sharp, precise, semi-pro self....and TADAAAA William was next. I was glad to see Katherine win because it made up for their earlier lackluster dance.

DWTS Season 14, Week 5 - Results

The show started off bla-ishly. Len requested seeing Maria and Derek's salsa....which sucked less today than it did yesterday....but still generally sucked. I think Maria is a very talented dancer in general, but that was her worst dance and it was painful to have to watch a second time. I would have LOVED to see Katherine and Mark's tango again. I'm gonna go ahead and blame her injuries. Though, seeing Derek take his clothes off never gets old. It was also hilarious to see him make out with Carrie Ann and Maria smooch on Bruno....no love for poor Len.

So, the first round of people were safe and OOPSIE! Melissa Gilbert didn't know her mic was on and we all heard a very nice and clear "GODDAMMIT!" I guess it was a, "Goddammit," of joy? Kinda like a, "FUCK YEAH!" Oh well, it made me laugh.

As always, it was lovely to see some of our pros dance together, in this case Louis Van Amstel and Cheryl Burke during Train's performance of...uh...I'll be honest, I didn't recognize the song.

Macy's Stars of Dance with Sheila E., the Capoeira guys and the samba gals was pretty great. I almost always love these segments. I know, why would somebody who doesn't like the DWTS troupe like Macy's Stars of Dance? Macy's Stars of dance gives dance groups from all over the world a chance to be on TV. The DWTS troupe just makes me feel like they're saying, "Here, have a look at all the pros' anonymous friends." I know, I know, they're really talented people and blabla but...eh...I still don't like the concept.

Pedophiles, rejoice! Selena Gomez performed...and that's all I'll say about that because I don't want to sound like TOO MUCH of a completely cynical bitch.

Moving along, Gavin & Karina and Jaleel & Kym were in the bottom two, which means they had to compete in the dance duel. The dance duel really seems to piss off most viewers. It makes them feel like ultimately, they don't have the power since the judges get the final call. I see their point. On the other hand, just like voting in elections, you can only vote FOR someone, you can't vote AGAINST someone. Oh well, I enjoy the duel because I enjoy seeing how people cope under pressure. I also like how it is a peek into a real ballroom competition, though real ballroom competitions have a lot more couples and they dance several dances until they're down to one.

Personally, I thought both couples in the duel they were both super awkward. Yes, I'm aware, it's not a highly rehearsed dance. Regardless, in my opinion, Jaleel did better than Gavin. The judges agreed unanimously. My prediction for this week came true. I think America and the judges made the right decision.

Even though he lost, Gavin seemed to instantly take the attitude of not being sad it was over but being happy that it happened, which was a nice contrast to last week's elimination with Sherri Shepherd sobbing (not that I blame her). A happy ending is always preferable.

P.S. Karina's duel costume was awesome. I had to comment because of all the bitching I've done about the awful costumes so far this season. Don't let it be said that I never have anything nice to say. :oP Pin It

DWTS Season 14, Week 5 - Latin Night

The show opened with a wonderful chacha from Santana and a hot dance from some the troupe, who are really amazing at what they do but honestly, I don't care for the idea....I much preferred seeing the DWTS pros dance in these things during the results shows. Then again, they have the pros doing a lot of other side projects, so I understand it, but just don't like it particularly well. I also don't care for having the musical guest appearing on the dance night rather than the results shows because the viewers don't get to see the performances in full....but I digress. Now, the dancing

Jaleel and Kym – Samba

Judges said:
Len: "You had rhythm in abundance. A few liberties with the technique."
Bruno: "You got the party started. That wiggle, have you got a mini-me in there?"
Carrie Ann: "This week you came out with attack and fire. Watch your arm when it's out of hold."

KT says: Watching Jaleel shimmy in rehearsal was.....interesting. He did well shimmKym's costume was also.....interesting. Reminds me of THIS costume from Hedwig and the Angry Inch...like they glued some poor bitch's weave all over her body. I liked the little bit of African influence they threw in and would have liked to see more. Jaleel's physique is also a definite plus, but overall, the dance was just ok to me. The judges have all been on uppers this season. Maybe it's just the curse of going first, but the word I'd use to describe the dance would be, "Blah." I agree with Carrie Ann on the arms. Not Jaleel's best dance. I worry if he may be suffering from early bloomer syndrome. He blew us all away in the beginning, and everything since just seems to have lacked.
Score they got: 24
Score I'd give 'em: 21

Melissa and Maks – Salsa

Judges said:
Bruno: Maximum thrust and plenty of fire. You're got to be on it. I beg you, listen to what we say, go with it, but control it.
Carrie Ann: You had some moments where you looked fierce and sexy, but Bruno is right. Make your steps fit your body type a little more.
Len: At parts I saw great rhythm and feel, but other parts untidy.
KT says: HA! Melissa's bedazzled helmet and neck brace are HOT! Maks needs to appear in his clean face more....and less spray tan. It looks like he belongs on Jersey Shore with that tan. Also not crazy about Melissa's costume. Looks like shredded caution tape. Maks was right to keep calling her "Grandma." She kinda danced like one. I agree with the judges totally. She looked very inhibited and uncomfortable through most of the dance, though there were moments of great sparkle, which we'd all like to see more of.

P.S. I LOVE "AGUANILE!!!!" I dance to that song almost every week.

Score they got: 21
Score I'd give 'em: 20

Maria and Derek – Salsa

Judges said:
Carrie Ann: "Wow, that was hot. I don't think you needed the kiss, I think that was a sell out.
Len: Two things were revealed, Derek's body and your talent.
Bruno: Can I get you a room? Can I join in? Saucy and hot! That's the way I like it!

KT says: The poor thing! She already has a busted foot and busted rib and Derek drops her right on her rib cage and chin. Whoops. LOVE her costume though!...and I don't mean the bubble wrap suit. It was also funny watching her molest Dr. Drew Pinski. Overall, the dance was too careful, stiff, and awkward, especially the kiss. I think Maria is very talented, but honestly, this has been her worst dance.
Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 24

Katherine and Mark – Argentine Tango

Judges said:
Len: This, for me, was like a rose. Well done.
Bruno: Dancing and choreography of the highest quality. It was played to perfection.
Carrie Ann: Your legs are the best legs I've ever seen of any contestant. That was poetry in motion.

KT says: HAHA Watching Katherine kick Mark in the nuts a few times was pretty funny....sorry, Mark. I liked the top half of Katherine's costume, but not the bottom half. There were one or two awkward transitions, but overall, this was an absolutely excellent, superior dance. I have nothing bad to say.
Score they got: 29
Score I'd give 'em: 29 (Sorry, I can NEVER give a perfect score)
Voting # 1-800-868-3410

Gavin and Karina – Samba

Judges said:
Bruno: You should have stayed on the boat. You just let yourself go hoping for the best.
Carrie Ann: I love the way you just go for it. You were lacking a little bit of form. It was hard to tell it was a samba.
Len: It was more of a sham-ba then a samba. It was a gallant effort.

KT says: I loved Karina's costume. It's perfect for the samba! That was cute choreography that had a lot of potential, but Gavin just couldn't really pull it off. His upper body was goofy and he wasn't loose enough in his lower body. On the bright side, Gavin always looks like he's having fun.
Score they got:
Score I'd give 'em: 19

Len: I saw mood passion sensuality and color, well done
Bruno: Pulsing passion.
KT says: HOT! Their best dance so far. No, I'm not biased just because William is hot. I think it was fantastic, no doubt, but I think they were over scored a bit. William's arms were a little stiff and awkward at points.
Score they got: 29
Score I'd give 'em: 27

Gladys and Tristan - Samba

Judges said:
Len: You've got a naturalness about you. This number was simple but effective.
Bruno: You play to your audience. You have incredible stage presence.
Carrie Ann: A few tiny mistakes, but there's something about watching you dance, there is a reason you are the legend you are.

KT says: Stiff, awkard, and dumpy moves. She did appear to be enjoying herself and she is entertaining, but overall, there were a LOT of mistakes and goofiness. I know she's a legend and all, but I really wish the judges would give her more constructive criticism.
Score they got: 22
Score I'd give 'em: 19
Voting # 1-800-868-3411

Roshon and Chelsie – Salsa

Judges said:
Bruno: You're wired for salsa! Your timing is unbelievable
Carrie Ann: You've got your own mojo. You were sexy in a Disney way. You hit everything.
Len: You're like a young guy with his first car. Sometimes you've got to slow down and enjoy the journey.
KT says: Chelsie's costume looked like Toucan Sam threw up on her. I agree with Len. Overall, that was a great dance, but there were times when he was trying too hard and it looked a little forced. I think he's a very charismatic and talented boy and this dance showed that, but the times he was "channeling William" showed through as well.
Score they got: 26
Score I'd give 'em: 26
Voting # 1-800-868-3405

Donald and Peta – Argentine Tango

Judges said:
Carrie Ann: That was divine. You're just in control all over the dance floor.
Len: The lifts were spectacular, but the rest of it...nearly but not quite.
Bruno: The buildup was amazing. It kind of worked, but kind of interrupted the flow.

KT says: Incredible lifts, but in between lifts there wasn't much actual dancing. Donald was pretty flatfooted throughout the routine, but everything else was great.
Score they got: 27
Score I'd give 'em: 25
Voting # 1-800-868-3403

Best dance of the night: Katherine and Mark's Argentine Tango
Worst dance of the night: Gavin and Karina's Samba
Who SHOULD go: Gavin or Gladys
Who probably will go: Gavin

Additional comments: I am not all that pleased with the ladies' costumes this season. There have been a lot of really flat out UGLY costumes. I know costumes are works of art, but they also need to fit the canvas. On the bright side, the men's pants have been pretty tight.

FANTASTIC dance from Ana Trebunskaya and Louis VanAmstel. I absolutely adore watching the DWTS pros dance together. Though....I think Ana and Maks used all the spray tan available....in....the world. Oh well, it's Latin week, I guess it fits. It was definitely an interesting show and a few people surprised me, some in good ways, some in not so good ways. I guess we'll see tomorrow if the rest of the US agrees! Pin It
